Kawasaki Strikes back!!
The quarter liter segment just got hotter with the arrival of the 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 250R. Biker's all over the world were taken by surprise when brief details of the new 250R were put up on the Official Japanese Kawasaki website as there was no news or speculation of an upgrade for the 250cc kwacker anytime soon. Kawasaki has made sure that the surprise was a pleasant one by giving a complete makeover to the ninja 250 and we are not talking just about the cosmetic upgrade but the whole engine has been overhauled. Kawasaki has claimed that it carried on an extensive research on the 250R just after the 2008 model's launch for a radical makeover. Needless to say that the research seems to have paid off and to the potential customer specially.

As premium as the Kawasaki Ninja 250R is it surely is feeling the pressure from the Honda CBR 250R which bombed the market last year creating its foothold as a strong seller locally and internationally. With other manufacturers eyeing the quarter liter segment, Kawasaki has surely been feeling its dominant position in this space coming under fire, and thus acted in response.
The 2013 Ninja 250R gets heavy design cues from the bigger brother ZX-10R making more sharper, muscled and a mean looking machine. On the exterior the newbies are:
- New Front Fairing
- New twin pod Headlamp design
- New Alloy design
- New Exhaust
- new Fuel Tank
- New Clear lens integrated front indicators
- New design clear lense rear indicators
- Overall cowling
- New ZX-10R type Rear view mirrors
- New Tail lamp
On the technical front, the new Ninja 250 ride offers more exciting performance. The all-new parallel-twin motor has a dual-throttle valve, new lighter pistons, an all-new aluminum die-cast cylinder, new crankcases. And complementing its new chassis, a Wider 140mm rear tire. The new motor is said to make more torque in the low and midrange, when compared to its predecessor. Numerous other improvements significantly improve the bike's overall performance.
Further, the chassis is more rigid for 2013, and has more rubber bushings to reduce vibrations. Kawasaki has also updated the suspension pieces and introduced new heat management technology which results in better ride quality and comfort that exceed the 250cc-class. Many small components were also redesigned and given better finishing for a higher quality appearance, ensuring new Ninja 250 outshines all other bikes in its class.
What comes as a great relief to all the Ninja 250R fans and potential buyers is inclusion of a new sexier dash, which was much needed as no one was fond of the down market limited function console on the predecessor. The new Digital speedo and fuel display and analogue tacho does justice to the overall cadence of the bike. The new console features; Analogue tachometer, digital speedometer and fuel gauge. Two digital trip meters, digital clock, overheat lamp and tell tale lights.
Another new feature is the inclusion of optional ABS which was smart decision by Kawasaki and adds some extra spice to the already hot package. The 2013 Ninja 250R will be available in 4 colours; Green, Ebony,Red and White.
There is no news on when its gonna hit the Indian shore or the price neither is the official technical specifications disclosed. Just keep your fingers crossed and for all those people who have booked the current 250, we would highly recommend to cancel the booking and hold your horses for the 2013 big bang by Kawasaki. I am now going to drool over the pics of the new kwacker, you are welcome to join me. Stay tuned or rather drooled for more updates on the 2013 250R and please do leave you valued comments.
