All Hail The DUKE…
What is it.. ??
KTM Duke is the name that has been floating around in the market attracting quiet some enthusiasm for quite some time now. Being one of the sexiest looking naked bikes around it is eagerly awaited and with Mr. Stefan Pierer, CEO of KTM Sport motorcycle AG, officially announcing the launch at the Delhi auto expo. 2012, the wait has gone beyond control. The bike will be manufactured at Bajaj’s Pune plant.
Bajaj has already been manufacturing KTM Duke 200’s 125cc sibling for the foreign markets and reports suggests that they have been received well. The KTM Duke has already been launched in Malaysia last month.
Features:-
The Duke 200 is expected to bring various firsts in India. Bajaj auto is already known for bringing such radical changes in the biking industry.
The Duke 200 will boast of India’s first inverted forks as well as the famous chromium-molybdenum trellis frame. The wheelbase will probably be shared with its 125cc sibling i.e. 1350mm. The power output of the bike is expected to be around 22-24 bhp and the engine will be a liquid cooled 200cc motor mated with a 6-speed gearbox.
The biggest advantage of the bike is expected to be its low and mid-range punch, offering great acceleration in every gear resulting in easy overtaking and great throttle response. Since it is a naked bike, it will not be an all-out sporty machine with power located in the upper spectrum of the rev band, but would be comparatively flat on the power and torque curve with great ride ability and ease of use in the city. Rear tyre seems to be a 150 section unit with 17 inch rims. Front tyre a 110 section one. Instrument cluster will be a fully digital unit displaying rpm, speed, trip, odo, fuel and temperature.
What to look for :-
We strongly feel that the Duke 200 is going to be an exceptional bike, true to its traits of a naked street bike. And with all the features that are expected to be a part of the package, it seems to be an irresistible deal. A price tag of around Rs 1.2 lakh is estimated.
So, that’s all for now. Stay with us for all the latest about KTM Duke and the biking industry.
