2011 has been a great year for the biking enthusiasts in India as well as in the world. With a flurry of new launches and many more scheduled to come next year , the biking market is indeed "HOT". So to keep up things peppy, Kawasaki India has planned to bring an upgraded NINJA 650R in 2012.
The new bike will see updates in the trademark exhaust system that will include a new header section and new three chamber muffler design.Engineers claim that the new design will provide better mid range torque on the 650.
There have been modifications at the frame also. The bike now gets a twin-pipe perimeter frame that will provide much more rigidity and overall strength to the bike. The layout still remains trellis to keep the bikes low-waisted profile and low seating height intact. With the modifications, the Ninja is now 0.6 inches taller to the previous model. The suspensions have also been re tuned for more travel and a sub frame to increase the load carrying capacity has also been added. The suspensions now travel 0.2 inches at both the front and the rear for extra riding comfort. Other changes include new clutch wires and new disk brake pads.
The seat assembly finally gets a split seat type with wider and thicker foam padding for comfort on longer rides. handle bars have also been widened by 200mm.Rubber mounting have been provided to keep vibrations away from the bars, seat and the foot pegs.
A new instrument panel features an analog tachometer situated above an LCD info-panel showing speed, trip meters, fuel consumption, remaining range, etc., and the ignition is now located at the fuel tank assembly in order to give a clear view of the gauge cluster.
Bodywork was updated for better aerodynamics and improved engine-heat dissipation, while styling was influenced by the ZX-14R’s appearance. The manually adjusted, three-position windscreen we like so much on the 2011 Ninja 1000 was apparently a big hit elsewhere, as the 2012 Ninja 650R now also sports a similar three-position shield.
The weight has also gone up by around 5 kgs.
So lets wait till we get to see this upgraded beast on Indian Roads... Till Then.
