When we talk of drag racing, what comes to an individuals mind is fast bikes or I should say extremely fast bikes and if the individual is an Indian then the next thing to hit the mind would be "NOT POSSIBLE" here in India. Well not anymore. To quench the thirst of drag bike lovers and enthusiasts Gulf Oil has brought "Gulf Top Fuel Drag Racing Bike, deemed as the fastest moving vehicle on two-wheels in the world" to India.
Before we proceed further, for those who are new to the term let me give you a definition :-
- Drag racing is a competition in which specially prepared automobiles or motorcycles compete two at a time to be the first to cross a set finish line, from a standing start, in a straight line, over a measured distance, most commonly a ¼-mile (402.3-meter / 1,320 ft) straight track.
Now, coming back to the bike by Gulf Oil. The bike is capable of doing a top speed of 402,8 Kmph in less than 6 seconds from standstill. And that would put almost all the "so called" fast machines to shame. The bike is and astounding 6 mts. long and is a creation of PUMA Engineering. This Gulf Bike has the aim of introducing the concept of Gulf Drag Racing to Indians, something which is at a very nascent stage in this country. One can only believe the power, speed and size of this bike, only if he has experienced it.
Not only this, Gulf has also brought Ian King, the Co-owner of Puma Engineering to India. He is presently ranked as the world No. 3 drag racer and is legend in the world of drag racing. It is believed by Gulf that his presence would inspire young Indians to take up drag racing. Not only would he present but also many demo races have been planned across Mumbai over the next few days. the schedule is as follows :-
