New Discover 125 ST - Bajaj Bang No.2 !

 This afternoon another bang from Bajaj has been witnessed by people in the form of New Discover 125 ST where ST stands for Sports Tourer. There are some drastic changes on this variant of discover like:

• 4-valve Engine
• Mono shock Nitrous Gas Suspension
• 200 mm Petal Disc Brake
• New Anti Vibration Frame
• New Trendy Alloys
• Alloy Foot Pegs
• New Instrument Cluster
• New Tank
• New Headlamp and fairing
• 10 liter fuel tank
• Open chain cover
• New Exhaust Design
• New Trendy Fuel Knob

   
Other changes were seen on the spec sheet where there is a healthy increase in Power output at 13PS compared to the old Discover which made 11PS. The Max power is now belted at a higher rpm of 9000 than the previous which produced its peak power at 8000 rpm. The Max Torque figure remains the same but again the output has been shifted to a higher rpm of 7000 compared to the 5500 rpm of previous one. These changed has been done to make the engine stress free at higher speeds. We confirm that there is no rear sets and wider tyres as was speculated a month back when the spy pics surfaced. They Ergonomics are still commuter oriented but now sport alloy made and the tyres have been retained from the previous version at 2.75 x 17" front and 3.00 x 17" rear. A new Anti-vibration frame has been incorporated for a stress free ride. The new Discover stand heavier at 124.5 Kg compared to the old which was 118.5 Kg. Ground clearance has increased by 5mm at 170mm, probably the result of the new frame. The seat height has also been increased to 800mm which seems to have caught trend in the Indian Motorcycle industry. The Power bump has made the top speed go up by 5km/h to 105km/h. The overall quality of the bike has also gone a notch higher.The Discover 125 ST price starts from Rs 50,000 on road Pune.

                                                                      Commenting on the launch, K Srinivas, President – Motorcycle business, Bajaj Auto Ltd. said,”We believe that the average Indian commuter has to compromise a lot for the fuel efficiency. With the Discover ST, we are making a statement that mileage need not come with the boring design and outdated features.He further added,”The Sports Tourer is an everyday fun ride to work. We believe that the sporty evolution of the commuter category will occus fast, and it is our intention to dominate this segment by introducing such breakthrough products.” It seems Bajaj is on a roll and is doing everything right with great strategy,innovation and not to forget great products. The New Discover 125 ST is loaded with features which a common commuter missed because of his budget and if priced right it could kill the competition in the commuter segment in India.
